Today I was reminded of what makes Charly so extraordinary and special. As much as I may think of primary as a chore, I am grateful, especially days like today, that I get to watch Charly's testimony grow.
After a great lesson in primary, we had a few extra minutes to fill before the third hour let out. Sister Abbott got up and started talking about how the young children could help their siblings at home to learn the songs. Charly raises her hand and with an endearing look asks what happens with her Grandparents who don't go to the temple(will they be a family forever?). Thank goodness she asked who she did, Sister Abbott is so great and kind and seems to have wonderful answers to all the tough questions the kids ask.
She then told Charly that she could be the example for her grandparents and that maybe their hearts would turn to what she did. It brought me to tears. Her little spirit, only five years old is so in tune with what we are talking about.
I was reminded of this note that I keep in my scriptures. Her old primary teacher wrote this on the back of a picture she took of her, and I have treasured it ever since.
We really do have such a tender spirit sent down with her and it reminds me of how blessed we are to have her as an example to us, her almost 30 year old parents!
Nate suggested that I keep this in mind throughout the days when she is giving me a hard time, to remember what a good, kind, gentle person she truly is. And to think, I wanted to stay home today!

For as much as a little wild child Piper is she truly does love Charly so much! When Charly is sad, Piper is almost certainly first in line to give her love. My hope is that these two girls will grow to be best friends through the years.

After a much needed lunch we went into the heat to try and play Sorry. I say try because Piper AKA "Piperzilla" was in a tearing up kind of mood.

I'm not sure if Charly just really does not like taking pictures or if something is bothering her, she always looks so down in pictures. Am I crazy? Nate and I think when she tells us all the time that she misses Utah and her friends, perhaps she truly does genuinely mean it. Just had an idea, this week we should make an advent calender leading to us going to UT. Couldn't hurt right?
