This is Bubba Jackson, our guinea pig that Piper just loves!
I'm in a constant fight with the weeds in my garden, I think I may be winning though. Seriously they are horrible and taking over. I was out there this morning pulling weeds but I still have lots of work ahead of me. Charly is helping me rake but after two minutes she is ready for a 30 minute swinging break. I told her if she didnt help me at least a little bit then we wouldn't plant the pumpkins and once fall came around we would be out of luck for pumpkin carvings.
We had to come inside for a bit to have lunch (cottage cheese and watermelon) and let Piper rest a bit. With Summer quickly approaching and me working on not being so uptight (hard to believe aye?) I've decided that Charly staying up later than 7 is not so bad after all. She woke up at 9 this morning which gives her 12 hours of sleep, just what she needs.
The fence is starting to seem like something that is actually going to happen this summer, I cant wait to have privacy in our yard and to let Charly let loose back there. Im trying to figure out now what leftover stuff we have that I can build some garden boxes with so I can have my stuff a bit higher (thinking that will help with weed control). Oohh so excited to have stuff ready to pick besides lettuce. I have about 10 bell peppers growing right now and just saw our first few tomatoes growing. Im just so excited to be in a place that we can have a garden and plant trees and see them grow. It feels so great to be settled somewhere....even if it is muggy TX ha ha ha. It has come as a surprise how much I miss the amenities of Utah, not to mention friends and family there too. So now Im open to the possibility of settling back west in the future, of course this will be at least 5-10 years from now.
Need to call my dad and get an update. I think he may be having heart surgery in the future (next couple of weeks). We have a lot of stuff that needs to get done at the house but we may need to make a trip to SA to help out if that happens. Life changes with a phone call sometimes, so we will see.

This is the first year that I've done mulch, and it has helped a ton with weeds! they still grow, but much less, plus they are easier to pull. About a month back when it was raining all the time, they almost took over. But now with the heat I am definitely winning that war! Funny how we do the same things at the same time. First it was baking bread, today pulling weeds... now if only we lived a little closer....
