This is the path I have been working on since we moved in. Notice Piper on the swing.
Charly helping Nate dig in the hole to get the dirt out.
Charly had a blast jumping on the trampoline at the Brooks' house...Piper did too and asked for one on her birthday *wink wink*.
.....And a shot of Piper on "her" swing.
Woohoo! This must be my lucky night. Nate is not only helping me remember the cool things that are going on but he helped me come up with an amazing title, he is the best! Piper has seemed to hit a huge milestone the past few days. She is suddenly saying words and short phrases that Nate and I both understand. She is getting much better at communicating her wants and needs to us. At the moment she is obsessed, yes OBSESSED with the swing in the backyard. So much so that we decided to put another rope swing on the tree just so poor Charly could get turn. Both yesterday and today I had to literally pry(sp) her fingers off the rope to get her in the car. She has discovered how to balance on the swing and wants to sit there for hours which would be fine if we didn't have anywhere to go. Its the cutest thing, she will stand at the back door and say outside, outside! We went to a friends house today and Nate was home before we got back and met us at the car, usually Piper is so excited to see her daddy but as soon as I got her out of the car she went straight for the swing without even looking at Nate. It is hilarious!
Charly and I are working on being kinder and more patient with each other and of course we have good and bad days but more often lately we are having good days and we have spent some time with a family who live pretty close to us who are great mentors on what living the gospel really means. I always feel refreshed and I want to try harder to be a better person after leaving their house. Heck I think we all do!
Nate was attacked by a tick in the car on our way to Pizza Hut tonight(occasionally we will go there on tues. night for family night). He is slowly getting accustomed to the TX bugs/weather, poor guy! I think I have become acclimated much more quickly than he has. Yesterday we worked outside all day until we went to a barbecue. I was able to get my garden path almost completely done and Nate has made five more fence holes. Those darn holes are pretty hard to dig, but we all think Nate is doing a mighty fine job. Of course its makes it a lot easier to do work outside when both the girls are content playing on the swing....best 20 bucks we ever spent!
On another note, tonight at dinner I was telling Nate and Charly that we should figure out what her mission date(the year she can serve a mission) is so we can have a day for her to look forward to in the future to which she replied..."Mom Im going to stay with you". To which I said, "we'll still figure out your date just in case you change your mind" She has saying a lot lately that she wants to live with us when she grows up, its cute but Im sure she will change her mind all too soon.....those teenage years are creeping up faster than we can imagine!
I'm sure as soon as I post this I will remember something else but as it approaches midnight I cant think of anything more.
