My friend Dee asked Jessica (click her name to see her side of the story) and I if I would come and take pictures of her daughter in a pageant so she could actually watch in a chair and not through a lens (both Dee and Jessica are talented photographers also). I jumped at the chance....and boy am I glad I did!
Nate, the girls and I had spent the whole afternoon in Sherman chasing coupon deals and so when we got home with only thrirty minutes before I had to leave, Nate quickly printed out some cards for me to hand out (he is awesome!)........I handed out one, but that is not the point, LOL.
I had never been to a pageant before, let alone one in Texas! I felt like I was back in my junior year on an assignment for newspaper. I was determined. It was thrilling, made even more exciting by the fact that I found out about a local camera club in Bonham which happens to be meeting this month, tomorrow in fact....and yes of course I am going!
I was definitely reminded of the bible belt we live around when, in between the girls talents, gospel and country singing were what we heard, which turned out to be loads of fun!
(When I first joined the church I remember thinking that our hyms need to be faster....now I can appreciate that they aren't.)
After the pageant, Dee treated us to ice cream and chocolate milk at Braums. PS, I will take ice cream as payment any day of the week! It was great but Braums closes at 11 and we were not ready to end the party so we headed to Dee's house to play Dance Dance Revolution (mostly Jessica played, we watched tiredly). It was so great to chat and get to know Dee and Jessica on a more personal level. There was even a point in the night we all were on the verge of peeing our pants from laughter because a mouse was teasing us through the walls! I love that I haven't even been here a year and I have already made genuine friends.
We stayed until the wee hours of the morning and I wound up crawling in bed at nearly 4am! Poor Nate waited up for me as long as he could. I feel like such a lucky gal! Expecting to feel like a total grouch on saturday I was surprised when I had lots of energy and got quite a bit done, perhaps a girls night out is food for my soul *wink*.
Anyways here are the shots I got, clearly I wanted more behind the scenes shots. Clairee was so amazing! She is such a sweet spirited girl and I was really surprised when, for her talent, she busted out a fabulous dance to "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas. She seriously rocked! MJ would be proud!
I wish I was listening to what was happening here. Doesn't it look like there is about to be a smack down?
The Walk... In all of the pictures I got of her walking her hands were carefully placed in this dainty pose, too cute!
Ahhh, her amazing dance routine....check out her facial expressions!
Nailed it! (Pictured with her VERY proud momma!)
Thanks again Dee for inviting me to share in this event, I had a blast!
