Cucu for Cocoa puffs!

Wednesday night was supposed to be Nate's birthday dinner night (turkey with all the fixings), but before we could get that started we had an appt. with a window person at 4. Really we only set it up to get the $100 Wal Mart gift card and figured we could watch their presentation for that...right? (BTW if I refer anyone and they see the demo we both get 100 bucks..but they don't go to Utah)

WRONG! Nate and I have signed our lives away to put all new windows in the house despite scraping by as it is.

Let me explain a little first.....In our bedroom and in Charly's bedroom, come to think of it the other upstairs bedroom too...well all these rooms have leaky windows that come down to the first floor and drip constantly every time it rains. (Unless we replace a towel every so often to soak it up in the window seal.)  It's actually really bad to the point where a few windows are rotting! We have been putting it off for too long and we decided that even though this is not really in our budget right now it is better than having to replace whole walls AND windows for way more than it would cost to just replace windows.

So instead of a wonderful surprise for Nate on his birthday, we made him a key lime cheese cake and wrapped up a couple boxes of cocoa puffs, yep you read that right, Nate got cereal for his 30th birthday! It's a little funny....right? Just a little.

We love this house and all but we are learning some things along the way for our next home purchase. Like for example.....we plan on buying a newer home next time...UNLESS we have an extra 100,000 dollars for upgrades to an older one, LOL.

Don't get me wrong, both Nate and I are very excited to have windows that keep the heat in and don't let bugs in, don't chip lead paint every time they are opened etc. but sheesh we just keep digging and digging into debt. At least we have each other right? I really am trying to see the humor in this.

Through this all I am continuing everything shy of pimping myself on the corner to raise money for our Utah trip. I have a few photography gigs coming up which ought to get us out of TX in gas. LOL  we WILL make this happen! Oh speaking of photography gigs! This just keeps getting better....my 50mm lens that I bought a few months ago completely stopped working today(thankfully it was after the wedding, although it wasn't working during the wedding I just didn't know it until I saw that all of the pictures were completely softened and not focused sharp like they should be) hmmm just in time for the soccer pictures and family pictures next week in SA. So I had to order a new one to ship to my moms by monday because it's going to take a few weeks to fix the one I have *sigh*. I guess if this happens again in the future Ill have a back up. Sucks though because now instead of raising money I'll be starting in the hole to pay off the lens....which BTW is going to be our meal ticket....I can just tell!

One last thing....I created a blog http://reneemcphotography.blogspot.com/ just for my photography so I wont be posting strangers on this one anymore....yes I know you guys all love to see people you don't know instead of your dear grand kids but I just had to separate the two. Hugs to the family!

PS...don't judge me for my grammatical errors...its almost 2 am.
