Merry Christmas......bye bye hippy hair!

Christmas has come and gone, along with a 6.5 hour drive to San Antonio after our gift opening. As I write, we are still in SA dreading the long ride back with little Winnie strapped into a car seat. Obviously she is not fond of being held by a plastic device when she has her mom's squishy arms and daddy's hot arms to hold her otherwise. No, I'm not bitter at all about my arms being squishy and the extra weight I have on my "phat" booty which, BTW I am totally blaming on all the delicious food around the holidays. Usually I am able to squeeze back into my regular jeans about a week after birth. Oh no, not this time. I had to go to my least favorite store (Old Navy) to buy some larger jeans. You feel sorry for me right?....and yes I am being ridiculous I know.....

Meanwhile while I'm sitting cute in  mom jeans, Nate's wardrobe and style keeps getting hotter and hotter. *sigh*

Oh wait, back to Christmas and all the splendid memories this year brought. We had many. Spiritual blessings, a gift of our baby girl Winnie, good health....and oh yeah, Charly got what she has been drooling over for more than a year, an Easy Bake Oven, thank you Grandma and Grandpa Orr!

I'm sure she got sick of hearing me say things like "why do you need an easy bake oven when we have a giant oven in the kitchen already that makes delicious treats, and by bulk!" Of course Nate and I saved this present for last. I know, we are nice huh?  Hey my parents did that to me and I turned out just fine.  As a young girl I wanted something called a Magic Copier so bad for Christmas and just as I thought all the presents were gone my mom and dad pulled a present from behind the tree that was indeed a magic copier. I probably peed my pants with excitement. To this day that is my favorite Christmas gift I have ever received.

I imagine Charly's will always be this Easy Bake oven. Can you blame her?
Piper in her delightful mood, as always, was spoiled by grandparents also. This cute little tool belt from Nana was probably her favorite present.

The girls received so many presents from generous grandparents and neighbors/friends this year and the thoughtfulness of others really touches me.
Dressed and ready to head down to San Antonio after lunch on Christmas day. Take one last look at their chic hippy hair.
While in SA we do what we like to do best...relax, sleep and eat somewhere fabulous with my dad.

We have been letting Winnie sleep without a diaper and it actually is really nice for her and us at night. (Check out the book "Diaper Free The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene" for more on why the heck we would not want to use diapers) She looks forward to it and by the end of the day she is just squirming to get out of her diaper. This usually works out fine and usually she doesn't poop at night so I just change the prefold diaper under her when I notice she is wet. But the other night I woke up at 2am to find her joyfully squirming in a puddle of her own poop. It was all over her legs, back and tummy! I could not stop laughing!  Nate woke up and I decided since I was up I may as well do some diaper laundry. It was seriously too funny, especially the part where Nate felt something wet on the sheet(poop) and was so tired to wash his hands so he just wiped it on the sheet. Classy right?  I love my life! No, seriously, I really do.

Look at Winnie's cute tiny little baby butt!  (BTW, I lifted the covers off her to get the picture, her butt was not cold during the shooting of this photo, LOL)
While in SA we usually meet up with my dad at least once for lunch at our favorite Chinese restuarant. This time he met us in town at a Mexican dive for some eats. This was his first time meeting with Winnie. I think they got along just fine. The whole time she slept, either with my dad or brother holding her while I enjoyed my lunch with both arms, it was delightful!...The actual meeting and the fact that I got to eat with both hands,
Me: "OK everyone laugh, pretend I am HIGHlarious!"

....everyone laughs....except my dad! Seriously dad, in all three pictures you did not laugh! Aye aye aye dad when the photographer says to laugh, you laugh! He he he he. Perhaps next time. It was fun regardless, and when I say fun I mean epic!
Today was huge in the hair department, after months of begging Nate to let her cut her hair short he finally agreed to it. The fact that she wants to donate it to Locks of Love probably helped convince him. I think Nate and I both were thinking that with a hair cut both the girls would loose their little girl look.

We of course had to come to SA to make this change, as there are not any qualified hair stylists in our area to complete such a task....none, that we have met anyway. Mia gave all three of us a nice clean up and it was so fun. Piper sat more calmly than she ever has in her entire life. While Mia washed Piper's hair her eyes rolled back in her head.

I fear now that when we get home the girls are going to expect head massages when washing their hair.

Charly got about a foot of her hair cut off, which I will have her send in when we get back home tomorrow.  Both girls were super excited about their cute new hair cuts and sat perfect for their time in the chair.
.......I guess this means I offically wont be dealing with their trims anymore. I try to spy on Mia while she cuts to see what kind of tricks she uses but I'm OK with the idea that hair cutting may not be my skill area.
