This week, while doing our normal things, we have been eating Piper err Winnie up (I will probably always want to call this sweet girl Piper. Piper even says they are twins).
Today marks her two week birthday and I just can not believe it has been that long since she was born. I really would like to stop time for a while. She changes every day and becomes more and more a personality all her own. Yesterday Nate and I shared an exciting moment with her when he got home...she gave him her first little chuckle and smile and no it was NOT gas.
Yesterday the girls got to see Santa twice. The first time was at the library for story time. This Santa was clearly not a veteran Santa. He did however pass out books to the kids. The second time was a bit more thrilling for the girls and Nate and I. Around 7 Santa, who was definitely not Dee's husband, and Dee, who was picked to be Santa's helper this year, came by and surprised the girls. The look on Piper's face was priceless. She sat and stared at the sight of Santa in her living room. Charly was pretty excited too. Although after they left she said she thought Santa looked like Cody, Dee's husband. Oh, no no no we told her, it was most surely Santa. How else could Dee's hair magically be transformed into a beautiful gray and how else but with the power of Santa's magic could comet be waiting in her backyard? Just when we thought maybe she had figured it out she woke up this morning talking about Santa and how he said he liked any kind of milk and chocolate chip cookies. Whew, that was a close one.
Seriously how freaking cute are these two? Dee and Cody were perfect. We are so blessed to have friends like these who care just as much as we do about making memories for our girls. Last night was something Charly and Piper will be talking about their whole life. I mean, it's not every year Santa actually comes knocking at your door.
Enjoying every minute with Winnie is something we are all doing. Rochelle is here this week so she is getting even more squeezes and kisses. Third time around it is so clear to me and Nate how fast this baby stage goes by and so we are soaking in her newborn goodness which feels to me like it's already almost gone. It really isn't fair how fast they grow the first year.
And yes Piper and Charly are still as excited about Winnie as they were from the get go. All day they want to hold her and in between nursing and naps they get to. When Winnie squirms and starts to whimper they both will say "aww, she wants her momma/nursie". Winnie sure is one lucky baby to have these girls as her sisters. For those who are concerned with Nate and his exposure to females.....you will be happy to know he is doing just fine. We knew he would. LOL
