Because both Charly and Piper were completely uninterested in their first birthday cake I thought it would be a great idea to introduce the "cake" concept to Winnie first at her nine month birthday. You know, so she could be ready for the big cake coming on her first birthday in three months.
We had a great plan, it involved finger paint, an empty canvas, carob muffins disguised as cupcakes, and balloons. The only problem of course, was that once paint gets on your fingers it makes the cupcakes taste pretty gross. Oops, didn't think that one through did I. At the suggestion of a wise friend, I will use vanilla pudding colored with food dye for her first birthday masterpiece.
It was fun anyway, after the paint dried and being hand fed by the girls Winnie seemed to enjoy herself on the swing for the very first time.
