Prom was awesome..... the third time around

So lately my sister and I have become closer, which is something I have wanted for a very long time.

I'm not sure why but a couple of months ago I asked her if I could make her prom dress, you know, cause I like a challenge, and when I say challenge I actually mean sometimes I have high expectations of what I can do. Do I always meet those expectations? Of course not.

Rochelle is getting cooler and cooler especially when she is over the moon excited for a re purposed prom dress that didn't turn out any where near perfect. In fact she texted me during dinner with "Emergency", her strap had completely come off. It's a good thing safety pins are around.
What I admire most about Rochelle is the fact that she didn't let a broken strap or crooked seam ruin her night. I think about myself at her age and how there is absolutely no way I would have worn a homemade dress to prom.  Rochelle was completely cool and confident regardless of her get-up. Her confidence I'm sure is inspiring to those around her. I hope she goes through life not caring what people say behind her back and having a thick skin.

Look at how adorable she is sporting her false lashes and made for her prom dress. ( I also made her little clutch, which fell apart at the seams as well...either she is really rough with her clothes or I need to start making double seams on the things I sew.)
Rochelle looked radiant and I was so honored to get to drive them around for the night. First stop Bravo's. Her date David was adorable and I really liked him a lot. In fact he is my first choice for future brother in law. He was funny, charming and most importantly he was a gentleman with Rochelle.
I'm thinking for next year's prom I won't volunteer to make her dress but I will definitely want to be a part of the experience with her, it was a blast and  such an honor that she thinks I'm cool enough to share her stage. I love you Rochelle!

Just another jerk said...

She is very trusting, first allowing me to do her hair and then you to make her dress. I love that girl! -very brave lol- She looks so cute, very grown up. Not fair that she gets braces off and I get them on, boo.
