First, some exciting sleeping news. Last night Charly and Piper slept in Charly's bed ALL night long, of course I had to move Piper about three times when her feet were on top of Charly's face but other than that they were delightful.
Charly came in the room around one or so and instead of asking to come in our bed she asked if I could snuggle with them in her bed.
The plan was to go in her bed and lay down until Charly fell back asleep but of course I went to dreamland and woke up at dawn when Nate asked me, before work, why I was sleeping in there.
He thought maybe Charly had been sick again. She is all better and back to herself today, we attribute that to the blessing she received last night from Nate.
Both girls woke up bright eyed and very hungry at 7:30 and not even two hours later we saw this outside our window.......
It was snowing huge flakes!
Charly and Piper were dying to go outside but I just couldn't bear to go out and freeze, so we read about how all animals poop and how baby mammals drink mamma's milk. Yup that is my life, and I love it!
All week long we have been waiting to get our poor little kitty Sammy back from the vet after a surgery to remove her first knuckles, AKA declaw and get spayed (I am traumatized by all of this, seriously I have mother's guilt with the cat).
Today would have been the day we went to get her, but because it's snowing here in TX and all work ceases when it gets any trace of icy substance, Nate showed up at home around noon with Sammy in tow. He may even get to stay home tomorrow from work, all while still being payed.
Oh how I love Texas and the panic an itty bitty snow storm causes which allows for my husband to come home early. What a great surprise.
(I have to tell you I was really concerned Nate would get stuck in the slushy snow on the wet roads in his four wheel drive Jeep. HA, not!)
The girls jumped up and down while screaming "daddy, daddy, look at the snow!" and just could not wait to go and build a snowman. I was relieved I wouldn't have to bear the cold, wet snow. Unless of course it was to capture photos from this rare day.
Look at the head of hair on their snowman! Nate said one of his arms was made from an okra branch. Mmmm Okra.
Dear winter,
Go away so I can make
my summer dreams a reality.
Signed,
A fresh okra craving momma
I am so in love with Nate, I mean look how happy the girls are with him! Isn't it beautiful? The girls were wearing 2,000 layers. We thought it would be clever to leave all of our snow suits in Utah when we left because, you know, it NEVER snows in Texas.
Now we sit in the nice warm heated house* with homemade hot chocolate in our hands and watch out the windows as the snow keeps falling from the sky.
A day to never be forgotten.
*After two months our heater is finally working after a second company came out and adjusted a valve. Something so simple was overlooked by the other company four different times. I still catch myself bracing myself for the hallway when I wake up only to be pleasantly surprised that my breath is not visible.
