The time I thought would never come is upon our doorsteps here in the south.
Charly is six and spring is approaching! Our baby peach tree is starting to show signs of new life and the sounds of laughter are no longer contained in the walls of our house.
Oh what joy it brings my life to be playing in the mud again. (Charly pictured with her friend who lives two houses down...notice Piper's bare feet)
All week we have preparing for Charly's birthday party, making a pinata, a layer each day, baking the cakes, and cleaning house.
In between all of that I have been weed pulling and preparing for my garden this year. I even had a great friend come help me pull weeds...which pulled me out of the winter coma I didn't even know I was in.
This week also brought some changes to my ring finger.
With the best intentions while we were dating, Nate picked out an engagement ring for me that wasn't exactly my style. Since then we have looked into melting it down and using the diamonds in a different design but were always hesitant because of the price tag.
Luckily a great friend (who shall remain nameless, LOL) was able to help us out.
Now I have the diamond Nate proposed to me with in a much more me setting. My hand gives a huge thanks to our fairy ring godmother!
The 80's also thank you for giving them their ring back...he he he.
Monday night we had Charly's unofficial celebration and made a yummy jello pretzel dessert which we were all dying to dig into.
Piper was very anxious to have a candle and even helped Charly blow out her candles, which Charly was not thrilled about.
Piper followed Charly around all week talking about her birthday and her presents.
After her gift opening we let Charly know she would not be sleeping at the same time as Piper because she was older and could now stay up a whole hour later than her little sister.
She is still gloating about that.
So this is what six looks like....
And this is what it looks like when a baby sister is totally infatuated with her older sis'...
It's the coolest thing when you see the bond between siblings start to really develop.
This winter seems like it has lasted forever, but at the same time I can't even believe a year has gone by in this house.
As I daydream in my cowboy boots and hat (which BTW I LOVE) of what the summer will bring this year I am excited for all the new doors our family will open and experience.
Cross your fingers for us that we will have thriving okra plants and many many tomatoes this year to munch on in between running around outside......
And perhaps spring/summer will plant a little baby seed to add to our family too....
