Saturday we spent the 60 something degree day running around blindfolded(literally) celebrating Charly's sixth birthday in true princess style.
Because we don't particularly enjoy entertaining loads of children all at once, we decided again this year to just do a close friend and family party(I invited my close friends who Charly LOVES and Charly invited the neighbor down the street).
I should also mention Charly wanted a 'girls' party...so other than her daddy, no boys were allowed.
I love the stress-free attitude that comes with not planning a giant party.
We played 'Pin the tail on the donkey' which was a complete riot for the adults there.
We also got to witness Piper with a baseball bat (Nate doesn't mess around with the pinata stick) trying desperately to whack the pinata open. When she failed to bust it Charly took to bat and finally ripped it from the string to reveal all the candy within.
The girls and I are still up to our ears in jolly ranchers. Mmmmm
Next year we must put more layers on top to make the pinata even more indestructible so more than two kids can have a turn. Either that or use something other than a baseball bat to hit it with.
Before our casual party started, Bailee (Dee's daughter) was awesome with the camera and shot some photos of us.
What great framing she did! It is always very helpful when you have a helper who knows at least where the shutter button is...no offense mom, LOL.

My mom, Kristy and sister Rochelle came up for a couple of days and it was a blast. Kristy helped Charly put her Polly Pocket wonderland (gift from Dee AKA "mimi") together while my mom organized our books/house.
Why is it when I clean all day I can never get my house as sparkly and organized as her after a couple of hours?
She has the magic touch.
When Nate and I walked in the door after church Sunday I thought my mind was playing tricks on me when I smelled chicken. To our delight we arrived to a full layout of KFC, which normally I would be so repulsed by, but after almost a whole week of meals based around spaghetti, I was very excited to show my taste buds what some good ole' greasy food tastes like.
My body did NOT thank me later, LOL.
We feel very blessed to have friends who love our kids, my family near to help us put some variety in our meals when it's been a bit bland and to celebrate the joy Charly has brought us these past six years.
Can't imagine what our lives would all be like without her in them! She is such an awesome kid!
